After months of anticipation (by that I mean, my personal anticipation), my setting of Let My Prayer Arise was released everywhere, including Spotify.
I wrote the piece towards the end of Great Lent 2024, and refined it during the following season. We recorded the piece in I believe the 6th week of Lent 2025 (yeah, not great timing), and released it just prior to Pascha. Eventually, Spotify caught up and released it this July. And now, I'm catching up and writing about it!
It was my joy to hear this piece sung. Members in the small group hail from the choir at St. Symeon's Orthodox Church in Birmingham, Al (a group we named "Doxa Ensemble" for such occasions). Soloists on this track include Father Philip Ritchey ~ tenor, Maria Ritchey ~ alto, and Victoria then-Landar ~ Soprano. The piece was recorded in a studio owned by the University of Alabama-Birmingham by professor Craig Brandwein, directed and mixed by yours truly. Here are some pictures I snapped from the recording:
While I'm at it, here are pictures from the night we recorded the Cherubic Hymn and It is Truly Meet, back in December 2023. These tracks (also on Spotify) were recorded by Arrany Shaw and directed by Subdeacon Andrew Ritchey. It was a wonderful time making music together!
If you would like the sheet music to Let My Prayer Arise, you can email me at [email protected].
In gratitude, Elizabeth
