Attention, children's choral directors! I have a piece to share with you which would be a perfect addition to your Spring concert lineup. Here is a little info on the piece, and the score is attached at the bottom for your perusal :) I have fond memories of learning rounds as a little girl in children’s choir. In fact, the rounds I learned at six years old stuck with me my entire life, never failing to entertain musical friends for years to come - even into college! Springtime is also a round, and my hope is that it too will “stick” with those who sing it. The melody for Springtime came to me last Fall as I was driving down the highway on a sunny day, already anticipating Spring. As the piece started to form in my mind, I thought, what a lovely little song this will be! And it is, I think, quite lovely and darling… At a glance, the theme of the piece is, obviously, the coming of Spring. However, I hope it serves the singers and listeners with something deeper: a quiet goodness and a simple beauty; a reprieve from the world’s chaos; a plain truth to be cherished. The libretto: Wake, wake, wake up my darling See, see, Springtime is here Sweet, sweet, sweet are the lilies Warm, warm, warm is the air May you see how A rose has a vow To bloom, to bloom Every year. I don’t have a recording to share yet, as it will premiere in Spring of 2023 (woohoo!). However, the preview score is attached below for perusal. If you are interested in performing the piece in the upcoming school year, please reach out to me as I’d love to hear from you! The score is available for purchase by contacting me directly at [email protected].
